Chapter Two

Lost to Us

"I'm assuming no one's told her yet, am I correct?" Vivian's voice never betrayed the feelings stirring inside nor the thoughts and memories that continued to haunt her. Watching a family, across the street at the small park, that played together and looked so happy; only made her feel this strange emptiness and longing that she had been cursed with since arriving in Neverglade.

"No ma'm, she still thinks her husband is in Bridgeport."

"Hm, isn't that just tragic. Where's Marcus?" Looking up at her protege, she caught a glimpse of surprise in the young man's face as the topic of conversation had been changed, although it wasn't much of one anyways when you're talking to this statue.

"He's at Fisherman Shore, the beach across town. Shall I get him for you miss?" Hmph! Am I truly that predictable? Vivian thought as she took a sip of her chocolate frappuccino.

"Call Erin, I want her at Lucan's house in 10 ten minutes. Once you're done with that, inform my father that I'll be returning with a surprise for him." Vivian was done with this quiet town, she had a funeral to arrange and her party to attend. After his orders were given to him, Damian bowed his head and made sure Vivian got into her car safely. If only she knew the feelings that she brought him. If only. He thought. "Never."He whispered.

Across Town - Fisherman's Shore

Flashbacks of what happened that night plagued his mind, shutting himself off would be the only option, his cure. The sound of blaring rock music disrupted the once peaceful atmosphere he had at this vacant beach. No one dared to turn up their music to that deafening extent, except his baby sister. He hated that brat to a tee but she was the new "big guy" after he relinquished his title of heir to that monster. Never had Marcus thought that Lucan would just disappear like that.

No one had a clue what happened to him, Marcus and some of the other men went looking for him after he was late for the Council meeting and no had heard a word from him. Instead they found his car still running outside of Bridgeport and blood splattered on the inside of the drivers' side along with a bloody trail outside of the car as well. Almost as if, Lucan or whoever it was in his car, was dragged from it. As much as he wanted to disappear as well, he had to find out what happened to his brother for the sake of his conscience and because Eliana deserved to know if her husband was dead or alive.

"Wake the fuck up, I got a job for you." Turning his head towards his sister, Marcus recognized Vivian's car as the same one his father frequently used in Bridgeport. "Where's your lapdog? Can't he do it?" Marcus was close to grinning as he mentioned Damien and saw his sister roll her eyes.

"Unfortunately, he's in Bridgeport talking to Daddy for me. I want you to check on Eliana and Helen, poor girl doesn't even know her own husband is dead, help them pack. I already know you'll do this for me even if you think you're not doing it for me. " The tables had turned on him and she was right, there was no way he wouldn't go to check on Eliana and Helen just to defy his sister. They needed him.

Finally sitting up Marcus agreed to do the job, "Fine, I'll check on them. I'm guessing you want me to be the barrier of bad news?" There was no doubt in his mind his sister loved chaos and as she nodded her head yes, it only confirmed that notion. As she turned to leave, Vivian, always one to have the last laugh, looked back at her older brother and smiled sweetly at him, "It might just be possible, Helen never lost a father at all...did she?

  1. wow um damn. Viv is colder than I thought. I somehow think maybe she had something to do with Lucan 'disappearing' He wouldn't have left without his wife and child and Viv wanted his position.

If she has no love for her family then Marcus better watch is back as well.

That last line was bad. Maybe I was right to think that Eliana was just as in to Marcus.

Two chapters in and the suspense of what is to come is already thick. :)

  2. So blogger ate my comment again. :( Third time this week that has happened.

Anyway if you get two sorry just delete one.

Viv is colder than I first thought. She (at least on the outside) doesn't even seem to care that her brother is missing and possibly dead. I wonder if she had anything to do with it? She does appear to be the type that would kill to get ahead, even if it was family. :(

Who is Erin and why does she want her at the house and why does it seem like she's kicking her sister in law and niece out of the house? Why can't she stay at her home? Is Viv gonna take over the place? If so then damn, no feelings what so ever. Not only did she lose her husband but it would appear she is also losing her home.

Viv is one scary chick and Marcus better watch his back. I see her having no trouble taking him out if he steps out of line.

"It might just be possible, Helen never lost a father at all...did she? ---ha this. Guess Eliana was into Marcus possibly after all.

    1. Awh I'm sorry about that:o

She does come off as icy cold, doesn't she? As you've read in this chapter and in the bios, Viv is not one to show her emotions (constant poker face) not even to her own family and she loves mind games, just as long as she's the one in control.

Arrgh! Jazen, you're making me want to post chapter 3 before next week lol. I love you're questions though! All in good time, my dear Watson haha

  3. Viv strikes me as a cold bitch...I hope they figure out what happened to their brother....and poor Ellie and Helen...they don't even know Lucan is missing or possibly dead and Viv is just gonna have them move..is it for safety or her own reason I wonder....She needs to be taken down a few notches..

    1. *Dun Dun Duuuun* True True, Viv is one crazy lady! A essential character to Viv's cold demeanor will be introduced very very soon.

  4. Wow that's so horrible! Vivian is not one to cross that's for certain unless you have all of your ducks in a row. Murdered her own brother for power though her bio stated she was into as much. I hope it turns out Lucan's not dead though and he comes back at this tramp for trying to overthrow him. She has no feelings whatsoever about his disappearance and possible murder. Sadness. Marcus, poor Marcus. I know that he and Eliana are exes and this possibly means he can have her again but at what cost? It may upset a lot of people if they started up again.

Then there's the case of who Eliana really is! If she suspects foul play once she hears about Lucan, I can just see her forgetting the whole "I hate violence" thing and stepping into the shoes she was born in! Can you imagine the daughter of the most ruthless crime family regaining her crown to go after those she suspects murdered her husband? Ha! Would just be worth it to see someone wipe that smile off Vivian's face!

Gotta tell ya Sara, so far you're not disappointing :)

    1. I'm likin' the predictions! Making me want to spill the beans on next chapter lol;D As for the "sweet and innocent" Ellie, many characters think she is very naive or see her as weak but could it all be an act? Both Viv and Ellie are Daddy's little girl so we'll see how that plays out in the upcoming chapters *dun dun duuun*

      Thanks for reading^_^

  5. Wow, Viv is cold and hard! I know, everyone already said that, lol, but, yeah, diamonds would shatter against her.
You do have to wonder if she was involved in Lucan's disappearance (and death? There wasn't a body, right? Just blood, so he could be live somewhere, being held?)
    Looking forward to more!

    1. Ooh great prediction^_^ Even though Viv is kind of a bitch, she's quite a badass. She's one of my favorite characters to write so far. Thanks for reading^_^

  6. Yep, I'll usually pick my characters early on in reading and Vivian aint got my good graces right now. It may all be a show to hide deeper feelings , it may be a defence, but she seems to enjoy it too much for that, one never knows though.

A husband and a father lost, unfortunately I don't think it was a stranger. Vivian is heartless enough to have been behind Lucan's disappearance and I think Marcus may be looking over his shoulder too...as he should be....edenz~

    1. Sorry for the late reply! Characters like Vivian are unpredictable and maybe she is a villain but one thing to remember about this story is everybody has a goal and will do whatever it is they have to, to achieve that goal.

So true, Marcus better keep a look out! You never know who's hiding in the dark. Thanks for reading!
